Involves enabling children to explore and play with a wide range of media and materials, as well as providing opportunities and encouragement for sharing their thoughts, ideas and feelings through a variety of activities in art, music, movement, dance, role-play, and design and technology.

Children sing songs at the end of each session and also during sessions along to music, or in group play. Children are often heard making up their own songs during play. We have percussion instruments for children to make music and dance, and experiment with ways of changing them. We often make instruments too. They safely use and explore a variety of materials, tools and techniques, experimenting with colour, design, texture, form and function with support of an adult if needed.

Children use what they have learnt about media and materials and play imaginatively together using an object as something else. They represent their own ideas, thoughts and feelings through making models and dens to play in, paining pictures and collecting “treasure” to take home.
