After leaving school I began working in various office based roles, completing different administration NVQ programs. I had my first child in 2003 and we regularly used the local Pen Green Family Centre. After some time visiting here I was offered a position working in the Creche. It was here I realised my forte was working in the Early years sector. I enjoyed being around children and watching them develop whilst having fun. I moved on from Pen Green to a local Junior school, where I worked as a Teaching Assistant for the next ten years. I met some good friends here and learnt many new skills. I took a break from work and moved to Gretton in 2015 when my son was born, here I began volunteering at Chirpy Chicks and was offered a position. Soon after began my higher education and successfully completed my Foundation Degree. I then went on to achieve BA (Hons) and I have never been more proud of myself.
The highlight of my year in 2018 was being given my new role as Deputy Manager. I absolutely love my job. My team mean the world to me and our shared ethos makes our work place so special. The feeling of our free flow setting is felt as soon as you come into the room. We provide children with the opportunities to develop in every way, in a child led play environment. My son has gone to big school now but he always asks to come back to Chirpys. Outside of work I enjoy spending time with my family, crocheting and studying. In 2021 My family decided to relocate to sunny Devon, here I continue to support Chirpys’s as Director alongside Linda and the team.
