I have been privileged to be able to work in the Early Years sector of education for 22 years and I still feel as honoured and passionate about the Early years as I did when I very first started.
I always knew that I wanted to work with children, and after studying my BTEC National Diploma at college I was fortunate enough to get my first job in a day nursery in Market Harborough, where I gained experience of caring for babies and children from 6 weeks of age up to 4years.
It was an experience that I loved and wanted to develop further and so I decided to go to university in Nottingham and study to become a Primary School Teacher, specialising in Early Years.
I had some great placements and during the holidays I was able to put my knowledge and understanding of early childhood development into practice by working alongside some very experienced practitioners at Pen Green.
Since qualifying as a teacher I have continued to develop my practice and pedagogy, developing my love for outdoor learning, and working closely alongside children and their families.
I believe that every child should be at the very centre of what we do, they should feel empowered to have a voice and a great sense of identity. They should be free to engage in experiences and activities that they are interested in and be encouraged to question the world around them.
I have lived in Gretton for most of my life and I am now lucky enough to live here again with my own family. We enjoy spending time outdoors, walking and exploring new places with our dog and spending time with family and friends.
